About WorkCalc

Free, plain-English workplace calculators built specifically for Australian employees — covering leave, pay, redundancy and entitlements under the Fair Work Act.

Our mission

Australian workplace law is complex, full of jargon, and often difficult to navigate without a lawyer or HR team behind you. WorkCalc exists to close that gap — giving every employee instant, accurate answers to the questions that matter most: how much leave have I accrued, what am I owed on redundancy, how is my super calculated, what will my final pay look like?

What WorkCalc is

WorkCalc is a free online calculator site built specifically for Australian employees. Every tool on this site is designed around a single question a real worker might ask — and gives a clear, instant answer without requiring an account, a subscription, or any personal information.

All calculations run entirely in your browser. We do not collect, store, or transmit the pay figures, dates, or other details you enter. When you close the page, your data is gone.

Who built it

Nathan Rowe

Founder & Editor, WorkCalc Australia

Nathan has spent over a decade working in and around Australian employment law, HR, and payroll. WorkCalc grew out of a frustration with how difficult it was for ordinary employees to get straight answers to basic workplace questions — the kind of answers that shouldn’t require paying a lawyer to find out. Every calculator and guide on this site is written, checked, and maintained by Nathan against the current Fair Work Act, NES provisions, and ATO published rates.

How our calculators work

Every WorkCalc tool is built on the published statutory formulas — the National Employment Standards in the Fair Work Act 2009, the ATO’s tax withholding schedules, and state long service leave legislation. We do not use proprietary models or guesswork. The formula underlying each calculator is explained transparently on its page so you can check the working yourself.

Based on statute

Every formula is sourced from the Fair Work Act 2009, ATO published rates, or state legislation — not estimates or averages.

Transparent formula

Every tool explains how it calculates the result in plain English, so you understand the answer — not just the number.

Kept current

ATO thresholds, SG rates, and NES figures are reviewed and updated each financial year as the ATO and Fair Work publish new rates.

Private by design

All calculations happen in your browser. We never see, store, or share the figures you enter. No account required.

What our calculators are — and are not

WorkCalc tools provide estimates based on the standard legislative formula for each entitlement. They are designed to help you understand your approximate entitlements and prepare for conversations with your employer, HR team, or a professional adviser.

They are not a substitute for legal or financial advice. Individual outcomes depend on your specific modern award, enterprise agreement, employment contract, and personal circumstances — factors our tools cannot account for. If there is money or a legal dispute at stake, always verify with the Fair Work Ombudsman, the ATO, or a qualified professional.

Accuracy and updates

We take accuracy seriously. ATO tax thresholds, Superannuation Guarantee rates, and NES figures are updated at the start of each financial year. If you believe a figure on this site is out of date or incorrect, please get in touch and we will investigate promptly.

No advertising influence

WorkCalc is funded by display advertising. Advertisers have no influence over the content, formulas, or results on this site. We do not accept sponsored content, paid placements, or affiliate arrangements that would affect the independence of our calculators or editorial content.
