Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information WorkCalc collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information.
Effective date: 24 June 2026 · Last updated: 24 June 2026
Your calculator inputs
We never see, store or transmit the figures you enter. All calculations run entirely in your browser.
Advertising cookies
Google AdSense uses cookies to serve relevant ads. You can opt out at any time via Google Ad Settings.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal data we hold about you.
1. Who we are
WorkCalc (workcalc.com.au) is operated by Nathan Rowe, an individual based in Australia. We provide free workplace calculators and informational guides for Australian employees.
For privacy enquiries, contact us at: annualcalculator@gmail.com
2. What information we collect
We collect two types of information when you use this Site:
Information you provide directly
If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and the contents of your message. We use this solely to respond to your enquiry and do not add you to any mailing list without your explicit consent.
Information collected automatically
When you visit this Site, certain information is collected automatically by our hosting provider and third-party services including:
- Your IP address (typically used in anonymised or aggregated form)
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- Pages visited and time spent on each page
- Referring website (the site you came from)
- Date and time of your visit
This information is used to understand how visitors use the Site and to improve the user experience. It is not used to personally identify you.
3. Calculator inputs
We do not ask for your name, employer details, tax file number, or any other identifying information in order to use our calculators. No account or registration is required.
4. Cookies and tracking
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device by a website. WorkCalc itself does not set first-party cookies for tracking purposes. However, third-party services embedded on this Site — including Google AdSense and Google Analytics — do set and use cookies.
These cookies may be used to:
- Serve relevant advertisements based on your browsing history
- Measure the performance of advertisements
- Analyse website traffic and user behaviour in aggregate
- Remember your preferences across sessions
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies may affect how some parts of this Site function, particularly advertising.
5. Google AdSense advertising
Third-party advertising disclosure
WorkCalc uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google AdSense is a service provided by Google LLC. This is the most important section of this Privacy Policy to read if you are concerned about advertising cookies.
Google AdSense uses cookies — including the DoubleClick cookie — to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites on the internet. The use of the DoubleClick cookie enables Google and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the internet.
Specifically, Google may use the information collected to:
- Serve personalised advertisements to you based on your interests and browsing history
- Measure the effectiveness of advertisements displayed on this and other websites
- Report on ad performance to advertisers
- Prevent the same ad from being shown to you repeatedly
Google's advertising practices are governed by Google's own Privacy Policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy. For more information about how Google uses data when you use our Site, see How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps.
WorkCalc has no access to or control over the cookies that are set by Google AdSense. Advertisers using Google AdSense have no influence over the content, calculators, or editorial material on this Site.
6. Website analytics
This Site may use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the Site. Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit the Site, what pages they visit, and what other sites they used prior to coming to this Site.
We use the information from Google Analytics only to improve this Site. Google Analytics collects only the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit this Site, rather than your name or other identifying information. We do not combine the information collected through the use of Google Analytics with personally identifiable information.
Google's ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about your visits to this Site is restricted by the Google Analytics Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. You can prevent Google Analytics from recognising you on return visits by disabling cookies in your browser or by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
7. How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate and improve this website and its calculators
- Respond to enquiries sent to us by email
- Understand how visitors use the Site in aggregate so we can improve it
- Display relevant advertisements through Google AdSense
- Monitor for and protect against misuse of the Site
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
8. Sharing of information
We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties except in the following circumstances:
- Service providers: Third-party companies that help us operate the Site, such as our web hosting provider and Google (for AdSense and Analytics). These parties are only provided with information necessary to perform their services and are not permitted to use it for other purposes.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, or government authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of WorkCalc, our users, or the public.
- Business transfer: In the unlikely event that WorkCalc is sold or transferred, user information may be part of the transferred assets. We will notify you via a prominent notice on this Site prior to any such transfer.
9. Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation), you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction: Request that we correct any inaccurate personal information we hold about you
- Deletion: Request that we delete personal information we hold about you, subject to any legal obligations we may have to retain it
- Objection: Object to our processing of your personal information in certain circumstances
- Complaint: Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au if you believe we have not handled your personal information appropriately
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at annualcalculator@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Please note: because our calculators do not collect or transmit your inputs, we hold no calculator data about you to access, correct, or delete.
10. Opting out of personalised ads
You have several options for controlling personalised advertising:
- Google Ad Settings: google.com/settings/ads — opt out of Google personalised advertising
- Network Advertising Initiative: networkadvertising.org/choices — opt out of multiple ad networks at once
- Your Online Choices (Australia): youronlinechoices.com.au — manage behavioural advertising preferences
- Browser settings: You can disable third-party cookies in your browser settings. The method varies by browser — check your browser's help documentation.
Opting out of personalised ads does not mean you will stop seeing advertisements. You will still see ads, but they will be less relevant to your interests.
11. Data retention
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected, or as required by law.
- Email enquiries: We retain email correspondence for up to 2 years, after which it is deleted unless there is an ongoing legal reason to retain it.
- Analytics data: Aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely as it cannot be used to identify individual users.
- Calculator inputs: Not retained at all — they never leave your browser.
12. Children's privacy
This Site is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at annualcalculator@gmail.com and we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, applicable law, or the services we use. When we make changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the Site after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
